About: Laughter Yoga has at its core premise that your body can and knows how to laugh, regardless of what your mind has to say. Because it follows a body-mind approach to laughter, participants do not need to have a sense of humor, know jokes, or even be happy. The invitation is to “laugh for no reason“, faking it until it becomes real. Laughing is an easy way to strengthen all immune functions, bring more oxygen to the body and brain, foster positive feelings and improve interpersonal skills.

History of Laughter Yoga: Developed by Dr Kataria, a medical doctor based in Mumbai, India researching the effects of laughter on the human mind and body. Being inspired in 1996 by the work of Norman Cousins and Dr Lee Berk amongst others he decided to field test the impact of laughter on himself and a small group. With further study and the realisation that the human body cannot differentiate between acted laughter and genuine laughter, this field testing was the infancy of what was to become a worldwide movement known as Laughter Yoga that integrates Yoga breathing with unconditional laughter.

Trained Leader: Ian will lead you into your laughter session through sharing his natural energy of bringing joy into people’s lives. Ian stands out amongst laughter coaches having built his practice on a platform of education and experience that includes seeking out the best training from around the world. After researching Laughter Yoga, he travelled to Scotland for training through JOYWORKS who have many years experience providing professional Laughter Yoga leader training and also have experience delivering Laughter Yoga into the National Health Service in the UK. Ian also brings life coaching skills to his practice having studied with Tony Robbins and Cloe Madanes partners Mark and Magali Peysha to obtain a Certification in Strategic Intervention Coaching.
The combination of education and life experience allows Ian to deliver a powerful session that will leave you feeling refreshed and energised.
